DAY 1: CUSCO TO SAN PEDRO :
We take an 9 hours bus trip from the city of Cusco ascending to the high mountain area at 4200 m (14,000 feet). After a short stop in Ninamarca, to see the pre-Inca cemetery, and Paucartambo village, we descend the eastern slopes of the Andes through cloud forest with lush vegetation (ferns, orchids, etc.) to the lowland rainforest on the Madre de Dios and Manu Rivers. You will enjoy spectacular views of the Andes and may see wildlife such as our national bird, the Cock of the Rocks (Rupicola peruviana) inside a hiding place next to the lek, brilliantly colored Tanagers and Hummingbirds and with some luck the first monkeys, as e.g. the Wooly Monkey. We spend the night in a lodge in San Pedro cloudforest( 1500m)  or in Pilcopata town ( 600 m).

DAY 2: SAN PEDRO TO GOLD RIVER LODGE:
Early in the morning we have another opportunity to observe the Cock of the Rocks at the lek. After breakfast we walk along the road increasing with our list of flora and fauna.We will travel for 2.5 hours by bus to Atalaya, at 500 m. Here we embark on a half hour journey in a 15-meter motorized canoe down the Alto Madre de Dios River. We have the opportunity to see wildlife along the rocky banks of the river, such as Fasciated Tiger Herons, Purplish Jays, King Vultures and some of the 13 species of monkeys that live in Manu. In the afternoon we walk on the trails around the lodge. Optional night walk to see Caimans on the lake. We spend the night at Gold River Lodge.

DAY 3: PARROT CLAY LICK AND EXPLORING GOLD RIVER LODGE :
Very early in the morning we go to see the parrot clay lick, this is a special place where parrots, parakeets and small macaws go to eat minerals which help them with digestion. After the natural show we walk on the trails or we can go fishing at the river. The night is spent at the lodge. Optional night walk ( to see insects, frogs, snakes etc.).

DAY 4: GOLD RIVER LODGE TO CUSCO:
After breakfast we start the return trip to Cusco, arriving at around 4 pm.

DAY 1: CUSCO TO BOCA MANU AND BLANQUILLO/ CAMUNGO LAKE & TOWER :

We pick you up from your hotel to bring you to the airport for the flight to Boca Manu (45 min.) .Your guide will be waiting for you at Boca Manu airstrip and from here we travel by boat to Blanquillo ( 2 hours). In the afternoon we visit Camungo Lake, looking for Giant River Otters, monkeys, caimans and birds. Afterwards you can climb the 42 m canopy tower from where you have a great view and can observe birds, e.g. toucans. The night is spent at Blanquillo. Optional night walk ( to see insects, frogs, snakes, etc )

DAY 2.- MACAW CLAY LICK AND BLANCO LAKE (BLANQUILLO) :

Early in the morning we go to the Macaw Clay Lick where Parrots, Parakeets and Macaws arrive to eat the clay, which is essential for their digestion. Breakfast at the blind. After this natural show we walk on the trails. After lunch we explore Cocha (lake) Blanco on a wooden catamaran, looking for Giant River Otters. The night is spent at Blanquillo. Optional night walk. (or we can go to look for caimans at night at the Lake).

DAY 3.- MAQUISAPAYOJ TAPIR SALT LICK :

In the morning we have the option to visit one of the lakes again, otherwise we walk on the trails. Later we travel upriver for one hour to Maquisapayoj ( Place of the Black Spider Monkey). From the dining room close to the river we walk for one and half hour into primary rainforest to the Mammal Salt Lick, where we spend the night on an elevated platform (with mats and mosquito nets) to observe tapirs (Tapirus terrestris) or other mammals during the night.

DAY 4: BOCA MANU TO CUSCO:
By dawn we return to the dining room close to the river and travel upriver to Boca Manu airstrip to take the flight back to Cusco. From the plane we have nice views of the rainforest. Transfer to your hotel.
